Frequently Asked Questions About Our Birthday Cards

What makes your birthday cards unique?
Our hand-illustrated birthday cards stand out because they are not based on generic stock photos. Each design is an original piece of artwork created by our founder, Mathilda Wears. This artistic process results in a distinctive style, vibrant colors, and unique characters that bring more personality to your message. We combine this original art with high-quality printing and our signature hand-finished details.
Yes, we cater to all life stages! Our collection includes beautiful and playful designs for children’s birthdays, specific cards for milestone ages (like 1st birthday and 30th birthday), and sophisticated options for older adults. You can easily filter our range to find the perfect birthday card for all ages, ensuring you have the right fit, whether it’s a simple age-neutral design or a specific celebratory number.
Absolutely. We are deeply committed to sustainability. All of our eco-friendly birthday cards are printed on high-quality, sustainably sourced paper stock that is fully recyclable. We use environmentally conscious production methods here in the UK, so you can celebrate birthdays knowing your card choice is kind to the planet.
Yes, every single birthday card is supplied with a matching, high-quality envelope, ready for posting or gifting. Our standard cards are typically A6 size (105mm x 148mm), which is a common size for easy postage. Please check the individual product description for exact dimensions, especially for our square or mini cards.
Yes, stocking up is easy! We offer our best-selling designs as part of curated birthday card multi-packs which are perfect for keeping a stash ready for those last-minute occasions. You can also mix and match individual cards to meet our free shipping minimum, or contact us about special pricing for large bulk orders.
Yes, to give you maximum flexibility, almost all of our birthday cards are left blank inside for you to write your own personal, heartfelt message. We believe the message should be as unique as the card itself, allowing you to tailor your birthday wishes perfectly to the recipient.
We use a thick, uncoated card stock that is excellent for writing. We recommend using a ballpoint pen, gel pen, or fine-liner pen. Although the paper is thick, we advise against heavy markers or liquid ink fountain pens as these may slightly show through.
Our standard A6 cards are considered standard letter size by the Royal Mail and can be posted with a regular stamp. Postage within the UK is free for orders over £20. For small orders, standard delivery charges apply and will be calculated at checkout.
We pride ourselves on quick dispatch. Orders placed before our cut-off time (usually 2 PM GMT) on weekdays are typically dispatched the same day or the next working day. We ship all orders from our UK studio, and you can choose from standard or expedited delivery at checkout.
While our primary focus is our illustrated collection, we do offer custom commission services for unique artwork and personalised portraits. If you are looking for a completely bespoke or personalised birthday card design, please visit our commissions page to submit a request and we can discuss your vision.
Many of our popular birthday card designs feature our unique hand-finished elements. These details, which may include metallic inks, glitter, or vibrant highlights, are added by hand to give the card a premium, tactile quality. Look for “Hand-Finished” on the product page description to confirm which cards include this special touch.
We aim for inclusivity and offer a wide range of themes. Our collection includes fun, cheeky, and artistic designs that serve as birthday cards for men, elegant and colorful styles that are popular as birthday cards for women, and vibrant, playful characters perfect for children’s birthday cards. Use the filters on the side to help narrow down the perfect recipient.
